Camcoat showcases new aluminium finishes at Northern Manufacturing

camcoat_tmb Camcoat will introduce a new finishing process at Northern Manufacturing 2013. The new process, DiamonDyze, incorporates the benefits of ceramics into the traditional anodising process to deliver an aluminium surface treatment that the firm claims exceeds hard anodising in terms of wear resistance. It can be used on all grades of aluminium, in all colours and without the dimensional growth that goes with hard anodising. Potentially, it can be used in all manufacturing industries wherever aluminium components must have exceptional wear resistance, corrosion resistance. Parts that have undergone the process have passed 8000 hours of salt spray testing. They are also claimed to improve surface friction, do not require amended machining dimensions, can be produced in clear finish or in a range of colours and at no cost penalty.

Camcoat has been applying polymer ceramic coatings to performance vehicle exhausts for over 20 years. The coating provides a thermal barrier to minimise the heat radiated from the exhaust which causes engine power loss and damage to surrounding components.

The company’s ceramic coatings have been used in motorsport applications. In this year’s Le Mans 24-hour endurance race, 10 of the LMP2 cars had ‘Camcoated’ exhausts. The coating is also used to ‘supersport’ road cars and the company says any manufactured part that requires thermal insulation will benefit from the application of a Camcoat ceramic coating
