Safety first with multi-beam light barriers
Switches, sensors and enclosures specialist, Bernstein, will be demonstrating industrial workplace safety products at Northern Manufacturing 2014, designed to help protect machine operators against hazards posed by industrial apparatus. They use a variety of contactless technologies including magnetic and RFID.
On the stand this year will be a working demonstration of it safety light curtains, which use multi-beam light barriers to safeguard access points without the use of physical barriers. Light beams, invisible to the naked eye, detect the presence of unwelcome items in the protected area, triggering the machine to automatically shut down if necessary. The company’s safety curtains are able to detect a finger at 14mm, a hand at 30mm and a body at 70mm.
The award winning contactless Safety Monitoring Switch, CSMS, will also be on show, alongside safety interlocking and hinge switches, as well as Control Enclosures.
