New hybrid press brake from Amada saves set-up time

Amada_53_HD-ATC_tmb Amada returns to Northern Manufacturing for 2014. Highlight of this year’s presence will be the new HD1003ATC. Designed specifically to reduce set-up times and skill levels, the Amanda HD-ATC hybrid drive press brake with automatic tool changer allows for fast, efficient, set-up when dealing with smaller batch sizes. According to the company, it can reduce set up and preparation times by as much as 65% when producing small batches or even a single component.

The comprehensive tooling carousel holds up to 15 different punch profiles and 18 different die profiles. It will typically set up any job in less than 120 seconds automatically. The four-tool positioning robots locate the punches and dies guaranteeing consistent set-up and reducing the need for a highly skilled machine operator, says the company.

It is based on the HD range of hybrid drive press brakes, which are claimed to provide greater precision, reduced running and maintenance costs using the company’s ‘eco’ hybrid drive system. Using electric servo driven hydraulics, this integrated unit provides high speed response and stable positioning, complemented by enhanced bending accuracy from the new, patented, Automatic Reactive Beam’ system.
