Coating is fit for pets and pistons

Camcoat-diamondyzedrotor_tmb At the Camcoat Performance Coatings stand at Northern Manufacturing 2014, visitors can see a veterinary anaesthetising machine whose components have been treated by the Diamondyze ceramic anodising process. The smooth, dense surface gives incredible wear resistance, says the company and is available in a wide range of colours – unlike hard anodising which is limited to black and silver. The anodising does not increase the overall dimensions of components so that standard and ceramic anodised parts can be produced from the same machine settings.

Also on show will be exhaust manifolds ceramic coated to reduce heat radiation, prevent internal and external corrosion and to look consistently good on display alongside pistons coated to prevent detonation damage, reduce friction and to minimise the metal temperature.

Other exhibits will be engine, brake and cooling components coated to increase the heat rejected by up to 20%, says the company, non-stick coated ovenware and examples of a new coating that prevents corrosion, is easy to keep clean and can be applied by simply wiping the surface with an impregnated cloth.

The company’s MD, Peter Carter and Paul Green, Diamondyze UK operations manager will be available to advise the surface finish treatment best suited to an application
