SpaceClaim touches down at EventCity

3D modelling software for engineers, SpaceClaim, will be on display at Northern Manufacturing 2014. It now includes LiveReview, the cloud-enabled live 3D collaboration system, and an STL Prep for 3D Printing module.

spaceclaim The tool is used in pre-processing for manufacture and offers several tools that speed and automate common tasks, eliminating repetitive work, says the company.

LiveReview provides a secure session where users can engage and contribute simultaneously to editing a model. It extends the intuitive interface, interoperability, and speed into a hosted session, accessible through any WebGL-capable browser on a computer or mobile device. According to the company, even engineers without 3D modeling software experience can review or edit models online.

The STL Prep for 3D Printing module is an add-on module that offers tools to repair printing problems and modify STL and CAD files as easily as if they were created natively, says the company. Engineers use the module to repair water-tightness issues and intersections, shell models to save material, and create connecting features to combine parts after printing.

SpaceClaim 2014 supports the ASME 14.5 standard, which standardises notation and inclusion of tolerance data with geometry for a fully integrated component of the model.
