Investments reduce customer costs

Jenks & Cattell edit_tmbIn the last 18 months, Jenks & Cattell Engineering has seen an additional laser cutting machine, 250 tonne press, 400 tonne press and 3 robotic welders, and the introduction of a double shift at its Wolverhampton facility. For automotive and off-highway metal pressings, it has introduced a 400 tonne progression press to existing high speed, coil fed and progression presses

The company continuously focuses on building customer relations, which often involves identifying cost-down solutions for customers’ benefit, often due to investment, says the company.

It now has presses ranging from 10 to 1,000 tonnes, with 250, 400, 500 and 750tn large bed progression presses, where typical products range from oil sumps, bumper brackets, seating components, electrical eyelets and mechanical assemblies.

The new SEYI 400 tonne press has a coil width of 1.2m, allowing customers to benefit from 25 to 50 strokes per minute, a bed size 2.8 x 1.2m. This press will increase diversity of manufacturing in-house, producing its largest components yet.

All presswork is complemented with automated welding, nut insertion, assembly and laser fabrication areas.
