Spindles are air-driven

Rainford edit-tmbSmall diameter endmills and drills are supplied to a variety of industries by Rainford Precision Machines. Highlighted on its stand at Northern Manufacturing 2016 will be its speciality; material-specific geometries for brass, aluminium, stainless steel, titanium, hard tool steels and composites, starting at 0.1mm and rising to 16mm diameter. In stock it has drills from 0.1 to 1.0mm diameter in 10 micron increments.

The capability to drill hard steel between 40 and 70 HRC starts at 0.1mm diameter up to 12.0mm. In some series, it offers 20 and 30xD capability. Even at these diameter to length ratios the holes are straight and to size.

New to the range are Air Turbine Spindles with spindle speeds from 25,000 to 90,000rpm and collet sizes up to 7.5mm. The spindles are air-driven, give constant power and guarantee a tool concentricity of less than two micron; important when using small diameter tools.

There are three main types of spindle, for machining centres, for automation (robots) and hand tools to increase spindle speed and feed rate in machining tasks.

Cutting tools available include, slitting saws, taps and threadmills, boring tools for sliding head machines and customer-specific tools.
