Board manufacturer heads for South America

European_Circuits_preview edit_tmb A Montevideo electronic systems company has recently taken delivery of a second batch of production boards from Northern Manufacturing & Electronics exhibitor, European Circuits. The Uruguayan electronic systems company for the agriculture sector approached European Circuits, following service and quality issues from previous manufacturers in Asia.

The company reports that the experience is replicated closer to home, citing another, local company involved in spectroscopy. After a decade of offshore production, it reviewed it strategy and now the first of the new designs have been produced in Clydebank.

The company is in discussions with others in similar situations and believes that companies are now seeing the total cost of the manufacturing and supply process, rather than focussing on the unit price.
